Hope you all have been having a great week. For the first weekend of spring break, Jake and I thought that we would adventure to my absolute favorite city – Chicago. Our two year anniversary is in just a few days (March 15th) and we thought that it would be fun to explore, shop and of course EAT all of our favorite things in Chicago. If you know me you know that since I was a little girl I have always dreamed of making this city home one day. I have cousins and aunts and uncles that live in the city and every time we would visit growing up it always felt like I was supposed to be there. Although I’m still living in Grand Rapids, Michigan it is 100% still in my plans to move there some point after graduation.
So obviously I’m not a total newbie to the city but still, I am deff no pro. Jake and I had so much fun so I thought would share with you on the blog our trip itinerary.
We left after I was done with work and drove 3 hours to Hotel Felix in River North which is where we stayed two nights. Jake and I actually stayed here the year before when we celebrated our one year anniversary in the city. It’s super reasonably priced 4-star boutique hotel that has everything you need. It’s in a great safe location, the room is always clean and the staff is great.
Once we checked in we headed to dinner at RPM Italian, so many people recommended this restaurant to me and you are headed to Chicago and love authentic Italian food as much as I do, you have eat here. After dinner, we headed to drinks at this young Mexican bar called Mercadito. After a night out we decided to head home early to get an early start in the morning.
I woke up before Jake and headed to my Drybar appointment to get my very first Drybar blowout. I have been using some of Drybars products recently and I am so in love. My favorite is the triple sec, it gives your hair so much volume and texture that lasts all day long. After my blowout, we headed to brunch at The Gage right near The Bean. This place has some of the best eggs benedict that I have ever had. After we ate we headed to Millennium Park to take a walk and check out the bean.
We kept walking down Michigan Ave and did some shopping and exploring stores. This was Jakes second time in the city and although I have been there so many times with my family growing up, we would never really do the “touristy” things so I thought it would be fun for Jake and I to do the 360 Chicago on the top of the Hancock tower.
The view was incredible and I would absolutely recommend doing this if you find yourself in Chicago. I’m a big fan of pizza and especially Chicago style pizza. So after all the shopping and sightseeing we really worked up an appetite and headed to my favorite Chicago style deep dish pizza place – Gino’s East on Michigan Ave. After Dinner, we headed back up to the Hancock tower to the 96th signature room. It was so breathing taking to see all the city lights gleaming over Lake Michigan.
On our last day, we headed to Hampton Social for brunch. If you want a totally #instagramable brunch in the city..this is the place to go. Not to mention the food is amazing and they have pineapple mimosas..yep, enough said. After that we did some more shopping and took some pictures, I was so upset because I left my nice camera on the island at home before we left and had to use my iPhone 7 plus for all of the pictures on my trip. So please excuse the semi-ok quality pics. So typical of me to forget something like that (lol)
We were so tired by like 3 o’clock that we headed to the final restaurant we wanted to try. The Soho House at The Allis – we got the afternoon tea and snacked on macarons, finger sandwiches, and little pastries all afternoon.
Overall traveling to Chicago was an amazing trip. We were so blessed with great weather and sunny skies the entire time. We made it there and back safe and sound and had so much fun the entire time. You can shop all of the looks underneath the pictures above. If you have any questions about any of the places that we traveled to or on any of the outfits that I wore on my trip feel free to reach out to me. I hope you all have an amazing week. God bless always.
